Waymo, a subsidiary of Alphabet, unveiled information on its most recent “generation 6” of autonomous vehicles on Monday. With its new autonomous technology included into Geely Zeekr electric cars, it should be able to handle a greater variety of weather scenarios with fewer expensive cameras and sensors on board. To witness the new robotaxis in development, the business welcomed CNBC to visit its garage in Mountain View, California. Waymo’s vice president of engineering, Satish Jeyachandran, stated that the company is “confident we can bring this generation to market much faster than the prior generation,” noting improvements in chip performance and machine learning technologies.
